SYNOPSIS

A shared moment of stress among strangers can bring them to form a fast bond.  Rhona and Mark have one of these moments on a bench near the hospital where they have both been visiting their ill fathers, which over time brings them together as friends. Their emotional journey takes them through childhood stories and different ethical standpoints on caring for aging parents until they discover something that changes everything. This world premiere musical features unique orchestral songs across genres including rock, ballads and jazz.

Creative Team

  • Jamie Langridge started composing songs on the piano as a teenager and never stopped. The only thing was, that no one ever heard them. Then one day he played a couple of songs for a writer at a party with the theme of a satire of Brexit. 2 years later, Brexit- What a Song & Dance was born and premiered in Wakefield in 2022. Since then, Jamie has produced music for theatre productions and his second musical: SmallTalking. Jamie's music is influenced by Tori Amos, cinematic themes, rock and big band jazz. His music can be heard on Soundcloud. He is also a keen actor/singer and most recently starred in Bridge of Madison County - The Musical.

  • Amber is a director, actor, and theatre educator originally from the US and currently based in Switzerland. She has worked as a director, curriculum developer and teaching artist in multiple theatre education programs as well as a producer and director for community theatres. Amber's work in theatre education has focused on developing creativity and confidence in both children and adults.

    Directing credits include: The Actor's Nightmare, Alice in Wonderland, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, All in the Timing, An Adult Evening with Shel Silverstein.

    She holds a B.A. in Theatre and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction.

Cast

  • Heather is an actress, director, and teaching artist who has worked professionally on stage and screen for over 20 years. Recent stage credits include Francesca in The Bridges of Madison County and Mairead in The Lieutenant of Inishmore. Previously based in New York City, she currently resides in Zurich, Switzerland. She has performed off-Broadway and on national touring productions in the USA and is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association. She received conservatory training at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in NYC and is a certified Meisner in Music teacher.

  • Oli is a director, musician, singer, and actor, born in London who moved to Switzerland to pursue a career in the semiconductor industry ten years ago. Oli is currently training as an operatic baritone with Maria Diaz Coca. Directorial credits include The Bridges of Madison County, A History of Falling Things, and The Other Room. Musical credits include Saint’s Laser, The Chicken Wings, Surrey Country Symphony Orchestra, Guildford Symphony Orchestra, among others. Recent roles include Ernst and George in Spring Awakening, Árpád Novák in Parfumerie, Joe in Hello Darkness, My Old Friend, Eric in Arsenic and Old Lace, Angel in RENT.
