Our Story.
Founded in New York City in the wake of the 2020 pandemic, You Do You Theatre Co. emerged as a bold response to the challenges facing live performance. With live theatre completely shut-down with no reopening in sight, co-founders Heather Hsieh and Suzie Hepker recognized the need to provide young people with a creative outlet during uncertain times. This led to an expanded mission of bringing theatre, movement, and artistic expression to children and adults alike—offering a space where imagination and creativity could flourish, no matter the circumstances. The company created innovative and intimate workshops that resonated with students hungry for connection and storytelling.
Since relocating to Zurich, Switzerland, You Do You Theatre Co. has continued to push artistic boundaries, bringing dynamic and thought-provoking productions to new audiences. In 2024, the company made a splash at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with its critically acclaimed run of SmallTalking, a new musical that captivated festivalgoers with its originality and emotional depth.
Now firmly established in Zurich’s theatre scene, You Do You Theatre Co. is dedicated to producing high-quality, artist-driven work that speaks to the heart. The company’s debut production in Zurich, The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown was welcomed by the community with sold-out audiences.
With each production, You Do You Theatre Co. strives to celebrate individuality, foster creative collaboration, and create unforgettable theatrical experiences.
What’s next?
